Fl Studio: Adding Space with Reverb and Delay

Demo summary
A demo of applying Fruity Reeverb 2 and Fruity Delay 3 to instruments to create depth and stereo width.
Step-by-step
- Open Fruity Reeverb 2 on the desired mixer track
- Increase the Size knob to the highest amount or adjust to taste
- Increase the Low Cut knob to approximately 700 Hz to prevent reverb on low frequencies
- Set the Decay time based on the instrument, aiming for 1.5 seconds or shorter for percussion
- Adjust the Wet fader from zero until the effect is subtly present in the mix
- Pan layered instruments or percussions slightly left or right (around 10%) to create stereo width
Options
- Use a single Mix knob instead of separate Dry/Wet faders if using third-party plugins
- Experiment with smaller room sizes when using very short Decay times
- Pan opposing elements (e.g., shakers left, hats right) to balance the soundscape
Watch out for
- Low frequencies are vulnerable; always keep the low area of the reverb minimal and controlled
- Check if samples are already processed or panned before applying manual panning to avoid overwhelming one channel
- Remove built-in reverb from synthesizers like Serum or Vital before applying external reverb for better control
Tips
- Keep reverb minimal so it creates a 'feeling' of a room rather than an obvious echo
- Choosing better quality samples creates better mixes immediately because they require less manual correction
- For beginners, avoid over-processing samples that are already layered and panned
