Fl Studio: Layering kicks with 808s

Demo summary
A demonstration of copying an 808 pattern to a kick drum and using Alt+K to flatten the notes to a single pitch (C5).
Step-by-step
- Select the 808 pattern and press Ctrl + C to copy it
- Select the Kick channel and press Ctrl + V to paste the pattern
- Press Alt + K to open the Limit tool
- Left-click and drag the range down to highlight a single note
- Right-click C5 to set the root note
- Click Accept to wrap all notes to the C5 pitch
Options
- Adjust the kick pitch slightly if it doesn't sound right
- Remove specific notes from the kick pattern to differentiate it from the 808
Watch out for
- The kick pattern usually follows the 808 pattern but not all the time
Tips
- Use C5 as the target note because it is the default preview note in FL Studio
- Turn the kick volume down slightly after layering to balance the mix
