Step-by-step

  1. Select the 808 pattern and press Ctrl + C to copy it
  2. Select the Kick channel and press Ctrl + V to paste the pattern
  3. Press Alt + K to open the Limit tool
  4. Left-click and drag the range down to highlight a single note
  5. Right-click C5 to set the root note
  6. Click Accept to wrap all notes to the C5 pitch

Options

  • Adjust the kick pitch slightly if it doesn't sound right
  • Remove specific notes from the kick pattern to differentiate it from the 808

Watch out for

  • The kick pattern usually follows the 808 pattern but not all the time

Tips

  • Use C5 as the target note because it is the default preview note in FL Studio
  • Turn the kick volume down slightly after layering to balance the mix
