Mute all other sounds to focus on the 808
Pitch the 808 up a few octaves to clearly hear the notes against the scale
Draw the pattern in the piano roll following the root note of the scale
Double-click a note to open its properties
Select the slide icon and click accept to create a glide note
Adjust the ADSR envelope shape to gain more control over when the note stops

Tips

Let the pattern breathe in the first bar of a root note change rather than overcomplicating it
Avoid using too many different sounds to prevent throwing off the listener
Find the 'pockets' in the timing to establish a better bounce
