Shows how to create an inline form, add custom fields, and embed the JavaScript code onto a third-party website.

Step-by-step

Go to Grow and select Landing Pages and Forms.
Click Create New and select Form, then choose the Inline display format.
Select a template and customize the title, button colors, and images.
Click the plus button to add a custom field for First Name and set it to Required.
Go to Settings and configure the Incentive email to include a download link for your lead magnet.
Navigate to Advanced settings and select the option to hide the form for existing subscribers.
Click Save and Publish, then click Embed to copy the JavaScript code.
Paste the JavaScript code into the code or text field of your website's page editor.

Options

Choose between Inline, Modal, Slide-in, or Sticky Bar form types
Connect via dedicated plugins for WordPress or Unbounce
Enable auto-confirm for new subscribers in the Incentive settings
Add a custom domain name for the form link

Watch out for

Forms are for embedding on your own website, whereas landing pages are hosted by Kit

Tips

Remove the Kit branding by clicking the logo and unticking the box for a cleaner look
Drag the First Name field above the Email Address field for a standard user experience
Hide the form for people who are already subscribed so it doesn't become annoying to returning visitors
Use the JavaScript embed method as a universal way to ensure the form works on any hosting provider
