Adobe Audition: Create smooth zooms with keyframe easing

Demo summary
The instructor demonstrates setting scale keyframes and using temporal interpolation (Ease In/Out) to create a professional zoom effect.
Step-by-step
- Search for the Transform effect under Distort and apply it to your clip.
- Set initial keyframes for Position and Scale by clicking the stopwatch icons in the Effect Controls panel.
- Move the playhead to the end of the zoom and increase the Scale value.
- Select the keyframes, right-click, and select Ease In and Ease Out.
- Toggle down the Scale property to reveal the velocity handles.
- Drag the handles toward the middle while keeping them flat to create a smoother curve.
- Uncheck 'Use composition's shutter angle' and set the Shutter Angle to 360 to add motion blur.
Options
- Double-click the effect to apply it to a selected clip
- Drag the effect directly onto the clip in the timeline
Watch out for
- Keep the keyframe handles flat; if they are not aligned in the center, it will screw up the zoom animation.
Tips
- Use a scale of 125 for a standard zoom-in on a face.
- Setting the shutter angle to 360 makes the zoom look more realistic by adding motion blur.
- This technique is particularly effective for focusing on specific points in talking head videos.
