Adobe Audition: Create shapes and nest sequences

Demo summary

The demo covers creating polygon shapes and nesting multiple layers into a single sequence for synchronized effects.

Step-by-step

  1. Select the Polygon tool from the toolbar by clicking and holding the Rectangle tool.
  2. Click, hold, and drag in the program monitor while holding Shift to create an equilateral triangle.
  3. Use the Selection tool (V) to rotate and position the shape.
  4. Duplicate the shape by holding Alt or Option while clicking and dragging the layer.
  5. Adjust the color of the duplicate shape and reorder the layers in the timeline to place it behind the original.
  6. Select both graphic layers, right-click, and choose Nest.
  7. Name the nested sequence and apply transitions like Shift+D to the single nested clip.

Options

  • Use the Ellipse tool or Rectangle tool instead of the Polygon tool.
  • Align the shape vertically using the alignment tools.
  • Swap layer positions in the timeline to change which shape appears in front.

Watch out for

  • Applying separate transitions to overlapping layers can cause a visible flicker or overlap during fades, making it look less professional.

Tips

  • Hold Shift while drawing shapes to ensure they stay equilateral.
  • Nest multiple clips into a single sequence to ensure they fade in and out together perfectly.
  • Use nesting for general organization of clips within your timeline.

Highlights

now both of these triangles act as one... and you don't get that overlap
