Adobe Express: Audio processing with the Track Mixer

Demo summary

The demo shows applying Parametric EQ, Dynamics Processing, and Pitch Shifter effects to an entire audio track.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the Audio Track Mixer and click the arrow to expand the effects rack for track A1
  2. Select Filter and EQ > Parametric Equalizer and set the preset to Vocal Enhancer
  3. Apply a DeNoise effect and set the percentage to approximately 5%
  4. Select Amplitude and Compression > Dynamics Processing and drag the lower points upward to boost quieter audio segments
  5. Monitor the loudness meter to check for red bars indicating peaking
  6. Select Amplitude and Compression > Amplify on the Master mix track and choose the -6 dB cut preset to lower overall volume
  7. Select Time and Pitch > Pitch Shifter and decrease the semitones to -1 for a deeper voice

Options

  • Right-click a clip and select Audio Gain to adjust decibels manually
  • Apply effects directly to individual clips instead of the track mixer

Watch out for

  • Setting the DeNoise percentage too high will distort the audio
  • Boosting dynamics processing can cause audio to peak (clip), requiring a volume reduction

Tips

  • Apply changes to the track mixer rather than the clip so you can easily move new clips onto the track to inherit the same effects
  • Aim for audio levels to hover around the -6 to -9 mark on the meter to avoid clipping
  • Use the Pitch Shifter to create a more cinematic feel by lowering the voice pitch

Highlights

I'm going to make changes here instead of directly on the clip so that I can easily delete them or move Clips up onto this track
