Adobe Express: Set up a Multitrack session

Demo summary

The instructor creates a new multitrack session, assigns mono inputs to specific tracks, and arms them for simultaneous recording.

Step-by-step

  1. Click the Multitrack editor button to create a new session
  2. Enter a session name and choose a save location
  3. Select a template or choose 'None' and click OK
  4. Set the track input to a mono or stereo source
  5. Click the 'R' button on the track to arm it for recording
  6. Click the 'I' button if you wish to monitor the recording through your output device
  7. Press the Record button to begin capturing audio
  8. Deactivate the 'R' button after recording is finished

Options

  • Use a session template instead of starting with 'None'
  • Record into tracks or drag existing audio files into them
  • Record multiple tracks simultaneously by arming both
  • Assign different microphones to different tracks for multi-mic recording

Watch out for

  • You must work with the Multitrack editor rather than the single waveform editor to mix multiple tracks

Tips

  • Deactivate the arm (R) button after recording to prevent accidental recording in a track
  • Turn off the monitor (I) button if you do not want to hear the live recording through your output device
