Setting up a Browse Abandonment flow in Klaviyo

Demo summary

Demonstrates creating a Browse Abandonment flow, configuring the 'Viewed Product' trigger, and setting up flow filters to exclude recent purchasers.

Step-by-step

  1. Navigate to Flows in the left menu and click Create Flow
  2. Select the Browse Abandonment template from the essentials list
  3. Configure flow filters to include 'Started Checkout zero times' and 'Placed Order zero times' since starting the flow
  4. Add an 'Added to Cart zero times' filter to the profile
  5. Set a time delay for the first email, typically between 30 minutes and 2 hours
  6. Clone emails and time delays to create a four-email sequence
  7. Open the email editor and save the default dynamic product block as Universal Content
  8. Insert the saved dynamic product block into all subsequent emails in the flow

Options

  • AB test the initial wait time between 30 minutes and 2 hours
  • Adjust time delays for different abandonment types (Site, Browse, Cart, or Checkout)

Watch out for

  • If using a Shopify store, you must use the Shopify 'Add to Cart' trigger rather than the API 'Add to Cart' trigger

Tips

  • The closer a user is to a purchase decision, the sooner you should send the abandonment email
  • Use Klaviyo's default template to grab the dynamic product block rather than building one from scratch to save time
  • Avoid splitting the flow between new and returning buyers for browse abandonment in most cases
  • A simple four-email structure is recommended for this flow type

Highlights

That's just the easiest way rather than setting it up from scratch. This saves you like a lot of time.
