Mailchimp: Set up a welcome automation with conditional logic

Step-by-step

1. Click on Automations in the main menu and select Welcome new contacts
2. Click Edit email and builder to review the AI-generated content
3. Add text containing the discount code and click Save and return to journey
4. Click Add a journey point and select Wait for trigger
5. Go to Marketing activity, select Opens email, and check Set a time limit to 7 days
6. Add an If/Else journey point and select Email interaction for the specific welcome email
7. Add a Send email journey point to the 'No' branch of the If/Else split
8. Click Turn on in the top right corner to activate the automation

• Use AI-generated email content or manually edit in the builder
• Trigger wait periods based on various marketing activities or specific time limits
• Segment audience branches using different email interaction behaviors

Watch out for

• The 'Wait for trigger' step must be configured with a time limit if you want the workflow to proceed for non-openers

• Set the schedule to 'every day as soon as possible' to ensure new contacts receive the discount immediately upon joining
