Beehiiv: Build an automated email workflow

Demo summary

Demonstrates creating a custom automation from scratch using triggers, time delays, and conditional branching (true/false branches) based on email opens.

Step-by-step

  1. Click on Create Automation and select New Automation
  2. Enter a name for the automation and click Save Automation
  3. Click Add Trigger and select Signed Up
  4. Add a Time Delay by clicking the plus button or dragging the item into the workflow
  5. Configure the delay duration
  6. Add a True or False branch and click Configure Step
  7. Add a condition such as 'Days without open is greater than 1'
  8. Add Send Email steps to both the True and False branches

Options

  • Use pre-built automation templates
  • Drag and drop items into the workflow instead of clicking the plus button

Watch out for

  • You always need to start the workflow with a trigger

Tips

  • Use the pre-built templates provided by Beehiiv
  • Use conditional branching to send re-engagement emails to those who haven't opened your initial welcome email
  • Make sure to make use of this feature to automate emails for days, weeks, or months

Highlights

this is very powerful because once it's set up, you won't have to do anything anymore
