Step-by-step

Set the left and right locators to span the automation you want to copy.
Right-click on the source automation lane.
Select Copy automation of selected parameters from the menu.
Select the target automation lane on a different track.
Click Paste automation.

Options

Set a custom key command for the copy/paste automation functions
Paste the same automation to multiple different lanes

Watch out for

The locators must remain in the same spot to ensure the automation pastes perfectly in the correct position.

Tips

Select an audio event and hit 'P' on your keyboard to quickly set locators to that event's boundaries.
Use this method instead of standard copy-paste to avoid alignment errors caused by cursor positioning.
