Demo summary
Reid demonstrates using keyboard shortcuts (A and X) to apply crossfades to the edges of audio clips and between overlapping segments.
Step-by-step
- Zoom in on the audio stack in the timeline
- Right-click and hold Command to switch to the Range Selection tool
- Highlight a custom range over the edge of a clip
- Press A to apply a crossfade to the edge
- Highlight the intersection of two overlapping clips and press X to apply a crossfade between them
- Highlight the center of a clip and press A to apply crossfades to both edges simultaneously
Options
- Apply crossfades to both edges at once by highlighting the center of the clip
Tips
- Use a short crossfade on the way in and a long crossfade on the way out for smoothness
- Manually turn down breaths before applying crossfades to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible
