Demo summary

A demo of the new REAPER 7 crossfade editor, showing how to adjust fade shapes, move crossfades with modifiers, and use the phase align button to match waveforms.

Step-by-step

  1. Drag one audio item over another to create a crossfade
  2. Hold Shift and click-drag the crossfade to move its position
  3. Hold Alt and click-drag to adjust the shape of the individual fades
  4. Double-click the crossfade to open the Crossfade Editor
  5. Use the gain and position controls within the editor to manually align waveforms
  6. Click the Phase Align button and select 'Right item position' to automatically match the phase of the right item to the left

Options

  • Adjust fade edges manually in the timeline
  • Match gain within the Crossfade Editor
  • Preview the crossfade directly from the editor window

Watch out for

  • Low phase alignment percentages (e.g., -5%) indicate poor alignment

Tips

  • Use the green and red waveform overlays in the editor for a better visual of how the two items overlap
  • Aim for a higher percentage in the phase alignment readout for better sound quality

Highlights

this thing is amazing and it will also tell you how aligned the phase is
