Adobe Express: Create and Configure a New Audio File

Demo summary
The user demonstrates clicking the waveform icon to create a new file, naming it, and selecting specific parameters like sample rate (44.1 kHz), mono channel, and 32-bit float bit depth.
Step-by-step
- Click on the waveform icon at the top to create a new file
- Enter a file name in the name field
- Select the Sample Rate (44.1 kHz or 48 kHz)
- Set the Channel to Mono
- Choose 32-bit float for the Bit Depth
- Click OK
- Click the red record button to start recording
- Press the space bar or click the stop button to end the recording
Options
- Select 48 kHz sample rate instead of 44.1 kHz
- Use Stereo channel if recording music instead of voiceover
Watch out for
- Do not choose a sample rate of 32 kHz or lower as audio quality will suffer
- Ensure your audio device can handle higher sample rates before selecting them to avoid processing issues
Tips
- Use 44.1 kHz for voice recording to save hard drive space without losing noticeable quality
- Choose Mono for voiceover to keep the process simple; you can convert to stereo later if needed
- Record in 32-bit float to reduce distortion and provide more headroom for post-processing
- Distinguish between bit depth for recording and file encoding for exporting, as they are not the same
