Cubase 15: Adding percussion and Effects Modulator

Demo summary

The user imports percussion loops, uses the 'ret-time' tool to match the tempo, and applies the Effects Modulator to create a rhythmic ramp-up on a hi-hat loop.

Step-by-step

  1. Import a percussion loop into the project
  2. Press '1' twice to select the Sizing Applies Time Stretch (ret-time) tool
  3. Drag the loop to match the project tempo and bar length
  4. Adjust the pitch of the loop by lowering it a semitone or two
  5. Open Effects Modulator on the track
  6. Apply a ramp-up curve to create movement

Options

  • Add chorus within the Effects Modulator for additional texture

Tips

  • Use the end of a loop as a fill to create transitions when duplicating sections
  • Layer multiple high-hat loops to build a more complex 'top' sound
