Shows how to drag an image from the Media Pool into Fusion and use a Merge node to connect foreground and background elements.
Step-by-step
- Open the Media Pool in the upper left corner.
- Drag an image or video file into the Fusion node area to create a Media In node.
- Select the background node and press Control + Space.
- Type 'merge' and select the standard Merge node to insert it into the pipeline.
- Connect the output of the Media In node to the green (foreground) input of the Merge node.
- Connect the background node to the yellow (background) input of the Merge node.
Options
- Press '2' on the keyboard to preview a specific node in the viewer.
- Use the blue input on the Merge node to connect a mask for hiding parts of the image.
- Resize the canvas by selecting 'Fit' from the top menu.
Watch out for
- Do not connect a Media In node directly to the Media Out node if it has a different frame size, as it will shrink the canvas and limit animation real estate.
Tips
- Think of Merge nodes as the equivalent of layers, defining what is on top (foreground) and what is on bottom (background).
- Hover over the node inputs to see color-coded indicators: yellow for background and green for foreground.
