Step-by-step

Tap on the clip in the timeline to enter edit mode
Drag the white handles on the left or right of the clip to adjust the start and end times
Position the playhead and tap the scissors icon to split a clip
Select a clip section and tap the trash can icon to delete it
Press and hold on a clip to drag and reposition it in the timeline

Options

Remove middle sections by making two cuts and deleting the center
Remove middle sections by making one cut and dragging the handle of the remaining clip

Tips

Zoom in on the timeline to get a higher level of accuracy when trimming
Use the scissors tool to remove bad takes or mistakes from the middle of your footage
