Demo summary

The narrator demonstrates configuring and toggling fade-in/fade-out settings for audio previews within the Media Explorer.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the Media Explorer
  2. Go to Options and select Fade in/out settings
  3. Toggle 'Fade in on play', 'Fade out on stop', or 'Fade on pause or unpause'
  4. Enter a millisecond value to set the fade duration
  5. Right-click the Media Explorer toolbar and select Customize toolbar to add a shortcut button for 'Fade preview audio'

Options

  • Enable fade in only, fade out only, both, or neither
  • Use actions to map fade functions to custom toolbar buttons

Watch out for

  • The fade settings replace the previous option to crossfade
  • Even a short 20ms fade can significantly soften the attack of sharp sounds like synth drums

Tips

  • Be careful when using fades with high-impact source material as it may alter the sound's character negatively
  • Add a toggle button to your toolbar since you likely won't want fades active for every preview session

Highlights

having a customized toolbar button It's going to be really helpful
