Fl Studio: Route recording tracks and add Reverb

Demo summary

The creator shows how to route the recording track into a mixed vocal track using control-click and how to add parallel Reverb using a shift-click routing method.

Step-by-step

  1. Select the record track in the mixer
  2. Control-click the routing button on the mixed vocal track to route the record track into it
  3. Go to the playlist and select your mono input (e.g., Input 1)
  4. Set the recording mode to 'External input only' and 'When armed'
  5. Shift-click the routing button on the reverb track from the vocal mix track
  6. Adjust the routing knob to dial in the desired amount of parallel reverb

Options

  • Select different mono inputs depending on your hardware setup

Watch out for

  • You must select the mono version of your input rather than stereo

Tips

  • Always record with 'External input only' to ensure you record dry vocals without baking in effects
  • Use 'When armed' so you can hear yourself as soon as the track is ready to record
  • Route the record track into a separate mix track so the recording sounds processed while staying non-destructive

Highlights

now we're set to record but I do want a little bit of Reverb
