DaVinci Resolve: Multicam editing in the Cut Page

Demo summary
Casey uses the Sync Bin in the Cut Page to automatically align multiple camera angles by audio and quickly switch between shots.
Step-by-step
- Select all clips in the Cut Page
- Click the Sync button
- Select Sync by Audio and click Autosync
- Click Save Sync to tag the clips with a blue indicator
- Drag a base clip (e.g., a wide shot) onto the timeline
- Open the Sync Bin to view live angles synced to the current playhead position
- Select an angle by clicking it or pressing the corresponding number key
- Use the Place On Top button or drag the clip down to the timeline to perform the cut
Options
- Select angles using keyboard shortcuts (e.g., hit '3')
- Drag clips manually to the timeline or use the 'Place On Top' edit button
Tips
- Use this method to avoid the complexity of setting up a traditional multicam clip
- Scrub through the wide shot first to find interesting moments before opening the Sync Bin
Highlights
“this is a nice way to be able to use multiple cameras without having to set up a multicam and play through and switch your cameras in real time.”
