ComfyUI: Image-to-image transformation with Z-Image

Demo summary

The user demonstrates how to modify a ComfyUI workflow to perform image-to-image tasks, converting a 3D animation into a realistic photo using Z-Image Turbo.

Step-by-step

  1. Double-click the interface and search for 'load image' to add the node
  2. Upload the reference image into the Load Image node
  3. Add a 'VAE Encode' node to the workflow
  4. Connect the Load Image output to the VAE Encode input
  5. Connect the VAE output from your model to the VAE Encode node
  6. Connect the VAE Encode latent output to the K Sampler input
  7. Disable or bypass the original Empty Latent Image node
  8. Enter a prompt describing the desired realistic output
  9. Adjust the 'denoise' setting in the K Sampler
  10. Click Run to generate the image

Options

  • Use Control+B to bypass the unused latent image node

Watch out for

  • You cannot connect a Load Image node directly to a K Sampler; it must pass through a VAE Encode node first to convert it to latent space

Tips

  • Roughly describe the original image in your prompt to guide the transformation
  • Think of the denoise value as how much influence the original image has: lower values keep more of the original, while higher values allow for more change
  • If the output looks too much like the original (e.g., still looks like a 3D animation), increase the denoise value to around 0.8

Highlights

the awesome thing about this is everything just works. I can just tweak this workflow to convert this into image to image.
