Recraft: Refine mockups with masking and blend modes

Demo summary
The video walks through using Recraft's masking tools (brush, wand, lasso) and AI blend modes to realistically integrate a design onto a physical product surface.
Step-by-step
- Select the illustration image and open the mask menu on the right-hand side.
- Adjust color settings like Hue, Saturation, Brightness, and Opacity to match the product.
- Select a Blend Mode from the appearance section to integrate the design with the packaging.
- Toggle 'Show Texture' and 'AI Blend Mode' to 'Yes' to maintain packaging details.
- Click 'Edit Mask' and choose a selection tool such as Brush, Lasso, Area, or Wand.
- Paint over the areas of the design you want to hide to reveal the product underneath.
- Hold Alt (or Option on Mac) while painting to reveal design elements if you masked too much.
- Use the square bracket keys ([ and ]) to quickly adjust the brush size.
Options
- Use the Lasso tool for freehand selection
- Use the Area tool for rectangular selections
- Use the Wand tool for AI-powered space selection
- Enable Tiling (Repeat or Mirror) for pattern-based designs
- Hover over different Blend Modes to preview styles before selecting
Watch out for
- Turning 'Show Texture' to 'No' will completely remove the physical details of the packaging
- Turning 'AI Blend Mode' off can result in the design appearing flat against the surface
Tips
- Keep both 'Show Texture' and 'AI Blend Mode' set to 'Yes' for the most realistic results
- Hold Control and zoom in to refine the mask around fine edges
- Use the Alt/Option key toggle to switch between hiding and revealing the design without changing tools
