Cubase 15: Build a drum pattern with claps and hats

Demo summary
The instructor demonstrates dragging in clap and hi-hat samples and placing them on specific beats to build a standard house music rhythm.
Step-by-step
- Open the right hand zone and locate the clap sample
- Drag the clap sample onto beat two of the timeline
- Hold Alt or Option and drag the clap to beat four to duplicate it
- Adjust the volume of the clap to balance it with the kick
- Locate the closed hat sample and drag it onto the offbeat (halfway between beats)
- Hold Alt or Option to copy the hat sample across the remaining offbeats
- Lower the volume of the hat sample
Tips
- Place claps or snares on the second and fourth beats for most music styles
- Set the clap volume to approximately -9.1 for an initial balance
- Position hi-hats on the offbeats to create a standard house music rhythm
