Apply Filter Curve EQ in Audacity

Demo summary
The demonstrator walks through opening the Filter Curve EQ, setting a flat default, and manually adjusting handles to boost high-end crispness, roll off low-end rumble, and reduce nasality.
Step-by-step
- Double-click the audio track to select it
- Go to the Effect menu and select EQ and filters > Filter Curve EQ
- Go to Presets and settings > Factory presets > Defaults to start with a flat line
- Grab the high-end handle and boost it up to 6dB for clarity
- Click above 100Hz and add another dot at 60Hz to roll off the low-end rumble
- Add dots around 200Hz and apply a slight boost for warmth and presence
- Select the mid-range handles and fade them down to reduce nasality
- Click Apply
Options
- Adjust the zoom level to work within a specific decibel range
Tips
- Avoid huge boosts; aim for a maximum of 6dB
- Roll off frequencies below 60Hz to remove mic pops and low-end rumble that isn't audible in the voice
- Boost around 200Hz to add warmth to the recording
- Reduce the mid-range if the recording sounds too nasal
