RipX: Isolating vocals and viewing guitar chords

Demo summary
The demonstrator shows how to solo the voice layer, adjust track volumes, and use the zoom function to view automatically generated chord diagrams and individual notes in RipX.
Step-by-step
- Select the processed rip from the top menu to open the workspace
- Click on a specific layer name in the Layers panel to isolate that instrument
- Press the Space bar to play or pause the audio
- Hold the Control key and use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out horizontally
- Press the Home button to return the current time indicator to the beginning of the track
- Hover over a layer and drag the volume line up or down to adjust its relative level
- Zoom in on the guitar layer to view the automatically generated chord diagrams and individual note data
Options
- Solo a track entirely to remove other instruments
- Lower the volume of a track to use it as a reference while playing over it
Watch out for
- The chord detection is not 100% accurate and may not pick up every chord
- Isolated notes may contain artifacts or sound 'gargly' rather than perfect
Tips
- Point your mouse at the specific area you want to expand when using the zoom shortcut
- Keep the original guitar at a low volume if you want to use it as a reference for playing your own parts
- Use the note view to identify the specific notes that make up lead lines or vocal melodies
Highlights
“it's really cool. It's so you can you can tell like what what notes make up this.”
