Demo summary

Step-by-step
- Open Audacity and import the audio file
- Click the track to select it (it will turn blue)
- Zoom in 3-4 times on a section with very little music or voice
- Select a tiny section of the waveform where only noise is audible
- Go to Effect > Noise Removal and Repair > Noise Reduction
- Click Get Noise Profile
- Zoom out and select the entire track
- Return to the Noise Reduction menu and apply settings: Noise Reduction 6, Sensitivity 4, Frequency Smoothing 3
- Click OK to apply the cleanup
Watch out for
- You must select a noise profile before you can apply the reduction to the full track
- Do not click 'Get Noise Profile' a second time when applying the final cleanup
Tips
- Use gentle settings to avoid distorting the audio
- Compare the before and after by listening to the track again after applying the effect
