Step-by-step

  1. Create a rectangle shape layer in the center of the composition
  2. Place an image or video layer below the shape layer
  3. Set the track matte of the media layer to the shape layer
  4. Parent the media layer to the shape layer
  5. Increase the Y anchor point of the shape layer to offset it from the center
  6. Duplicate the layers and rotate the duplicates by 45 degrees or an equal divisor of 360
  7. Create a null object and parent all shape layers to it
  8. Keyframe the rotation of the null object to animate the carousel

Options

  • Use images, videos, or other media for the carousel content
  • Hold Alt and drag new media onto existing layers to replace content

Watch out for

  • Rotation increments must be an equal amount that is divided by 360 to form a perfect circle

Tips

  • Parent the image to the shape layer to ensure they move together during the offset and rotation process
