Clipchamp: Trimming and splitting video clips

Demo summary

The user demonstrates trimming clip edges and using the 'S' key or scissor icon to split video segments in the middle of the timeline.

Step-by-step

  1. Select a clip on the timeline to reveal the handles.
  2. Drag the edges of the clip to trim it to the desired length.
  3. Move the playhead to a specific frame to use as a guide for trimming.
  4. Click the scissor icon or press 'S' on the keyboard to split a clip at the playhead.
  5. Highlight a segment and press 'Delete' to remove it.
  6. Right-click on a gap between clips and select 'Delete all visual gaps' to bridge the timeline.

Options

  • Use the 'S' keyboard shortcut instead of the scissor icon to split clips
  • Use AI suggestions to 'Auto cut' and remove pauses or filler words

Tips

  • Use the playhead to find the exact frame you want before trimming; the edge will highlight in purple when it snaps to that frame.
  • Be cautious with the AI auto-cut feature for removing pauses as it can be 'a bit iffy'.

Highlights

if you want to trim the edges, it's pretty easy
