Animate text behind a subject in CapCut

Demo summary

The demo shows how to duplicate a video layer, use 'Auto Removal' for the background, and place an animated text layer between the original and cut-out layers using keyframes and compound clips.

Step-by-step

  1. Duplicate your video layer.
  2. Select the top video layer and go to Video, then Remove Background, and select Auto Removal.
  3. Add a text layer and drag it between the two video layers.
  4. Go to the Basic tab on the text layer and add a keyframe for Scale at the beginning.
  5. Move 15 frames ahead to add a second keyframe at 110% scale, then move another 15 frames to add a third keyframe at 90% scale.
  6. Right-click the text layer and select Create compound clip.
  7. Drag the compound clip above both video layers and cut the clip where the text begins reducing in size.
  8. Move the second half of the cut text clip back beneath the top video layer.
  9. Extend the top video clip by two frames and apply a Fade Out animation with a 0.1-second duration.

Watch out for

  • The 'Auto Removal' feature must be applied to the top video layer for the layering effect to work.

Tips

  • Use the arrow keys to scrub through frames for precise timing.
  • Apply a 0.1-second Fade Out to the top clip to make the transition 'smooth as butter' and look like After Effects.
