Step-by-step

  1. Open the color palette tool at the top of the interface
  2. Identify the color representing the background from the list of detected shades
  3. Click the checkbox next to the eyeball icon for that specific color to make it transparent

Options

  • Click directly on the background of the image to select it
  • Click the color swatch within the palette to select it
  • Change the color of a selected segment instead of making it transparent

Watch out for

  • Making a background color transparent may also remove that same color from internal parts of the image

Tips

  • If internal colors are accidentally removed, fill them back in using vector editing software like Illustrator or CorelDRAW
