Fine-tuning with Midjourney Personalization

Demo summary

The video demonstrates the 'Personalize' feature where rating images creates a unique aesthetic code that can be applied to prompts to move away from the 'default AI look'.

Step-by-step

  1. Navigate to the Personalize tab in Midjourney.
  2. Click Start Teaching to begin the image rating process.
  3. Select your favorite image from the pairs provided to teach the model your preferences.
  4. Enter a text prompt followed by your desired parameters.
  5. Add the --p (personalize) parameter to your prompt to apply your unique aesthetic code.
  6. Adjust the --stylize (or --s) value to control the intensity of the aesthetic application.

Options

  • Skip image pairs if you do not like either option during the rating process.
  • Use high stylize values (up to 1000) to lean heavily into the model's aesthetics.
  • Use the default stylize value (100) for a balance between the prompt and the model aesthetics.

Watch out for

  • High stylize values without personalization can result in a 'super in-your-face AI' look.

Tips

  • Don't overthink the rating process; just select the one you are most interested in.
  • Rate approximately a thousand images to effectively fine-tune the model to your preferences.
  • Use personalization as one of the first things you do to move away from the community-curated default look.
  • Combine personalization with high stylize values to see a 'totally different universe' of results tailored to your taste.

Highlights

it's super simple and everybody should do it
