Midjourney: Adjusting Stylize, Weird, and Chaos Parameters

MidjourneyTry it →Watch full video →Wade McMaster - Creator Impact ·

Demo summary

The creator demonstrates how varying the --stylize, --weird, and --chaos parameters affects the aesthetic output and variety of Midjourney V8 grids.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Settings in Midjourney
  2. Set the mode to Standard and the aspect ratio to 16:9
  3. Run a prompt with the default stylization of 100
  4. Increase the --stylize parameter to 1000 to increase dramatic aesthetics
  5. Set the --weird parameter to 3000 while returning stylize to 100 to change the image composition style
  6. Increase the --chaos parameter to maximum to generate a wider variety of results within the image grid

Options

  • Switch between RAW mode and Standard mode to adjust the level of default styling
  • Adjust stylization anywhere from the default 100 up to 1000

Watch out for

  • High stylization (1000) can cause coherence to disappear, such as losing specific background elements like people
  • High weirdness settings (3000) will result in images that are not traditionally aesthetic

Tips

  • Use the chaos parameter (variety) if you want a mix of bright, dark, and gloomy results in a single grid
  • Experiment with these parameters specifically in Version 8 as they have a significant impact on the output

Highlights

definitely playing with those stylized settings works. They work very well with version 8. So, I do think that's a bit of a win.
