Step-by-step

Select the Healing Tool from the sidebar
Choose the Patch Tool
Zoom in on the target area using the mouse wheel
Hold the Shift key to use the hand tool to reposition the image
Draw a selection around the object you want to remove
Drag the selection to a clean source area to replace the pixels
Use the Healing Brush to fine-tune the edges

Options

Use the Healing Brush instead of or in addition to the Patch Tool for fine-tuning

Tips

Spend extra time with the healing brush to fine-tune the area until all distractions are fully removed
