Adobe Express: Edit audio using Spectral Frequency Display

Adobe ExpressTry it →Watch full video →The Voice Over Blueprint™ with Mike Hathcote ·

Demo summary

The narrator demonstrates how to identify and remove mouth clicks, breaths, and mistakes by highlighting sections in the spectral view and using the 'Auto-Heal' favorite to clean up the track.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the Spectral Frequency Display to view the audio heat map.
  2. Identify mouth clicks, breaths, or mistakes by looking for visual anomalies (dots or bright spots) in the spectral view.
  3. Highlight mistakes or unwanted silence and press Delete to remove the time from the recording.
  4. Highlight specific mouth clicks or wet sounds that should be removed without changing the timing.
  5. Go to the Favorites menu and select Auto-Heal to erase the anomaly while preserving the surrounding audio.
  6. Close up gaps between takes by highlighting the empty space and deleting it.

Options

  • Use a keyboard shortcut for Auto-Heal instead of the Favorites menu.

Watch out for

  • Deleting a selection removes the time from the recording, whereas Auto-Heal only reduces or erases the specific sound anomaly.

Tips

  • Use the spectral view rather than the standard waveform to more easily isolate small clicks and breaths.
  • Think of Auto-Heal as a 'magic eraser' for audio anomalies that doesn't disrupt the flow of the speech.

Highlights

This is kind of a heat map that shows you a lot better in my opinion where your mouth clicks and breaths and stuff are.
