Demo summary

The presenter demonstrates the desktop interface of Moises, switching between Auto, Advanced, and Reference mastering modes while playing back a track to compare sonic results.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the Moises desktop application
  2. Select a track to master
  3. Choose between Auto, Advanced, or Reference track modes
  4. Set the Target Loudness and Ceiling in Advanced mode
  5. Upload a reference track from your local library or cloud storage if using Reference mode
  6. Toggle between the original and the different mastering modes during playback to compare results

Options

  • Set Ceiling to -0.1 or -0.3 (industry standard)
  • Set Target Loudness to -14 LUFS for platforms like YouTube, SoundCloud, and Tidal
  • Upload reference tracks from local storage
  • Upload reference tracks from cloud storage

Watch out for

  • The software does not currently offer an automatic volume matching feature for comparing modes during playback

Tips

  • Use -14 LUFS for mastering as it is suitable for a wide variety of streaming platforms
  • To accurately compare modes, export the tracks and volume match them manually in a DAW

Highlights

the beautiful thing about this is that as I'm listening to the original, I'm gonna be able to go back and forth between my reference version, my advanced mode... and then auto mode
