Step-by-step
- Swipe down from the top corner of the iPad screen to open Control Center
- Tap the GarageBand-specific menu icon
- Select Mic Mode to toggle Voice Isolation for noise cancellation
- Tap the microphone menu to view available input devices
- Select the desired input source, such as an external interface or the built-in iPad microphone
Options
- Switch between Standard and Voice Isolation mic modes
- Select an external Audient EVO interface as the system-level microphone
- Switch back to the iPad's built-in microphone on the fly
Watch out for
- The specific GarageBand menu in Control Center is only visible when the app is open
Tips
- Use the global noise cancellation feature if you are recording in an untreated room or noisy environment
- Note that Voice Isolation is primarily intended for phone and Zoom calls
