Step-by-step

  1. Drag the playhead to the desired point in the footage
  2. Click the Split icon in the timeline or press Control + B to divide the clip
  3. Select the unwanted portion of the clip and press Delete
  4. Hover over the end of a clip until the cursor changes, then click and drag the edge to the playhead
  5. Press Q to ripple trim and delete everything to the left of the playhead
  6. Press W to ripple trim and delete everything to the right of the playhead
