Adobe Audition: Create God Rays with Volumetric Rays

Step-by-step
- Drop the Volumetric Rays effect onto your footage
- Increase the Intensity parameter to brighten the rays
- Adjust the Highlights Only parameter to control the bright spots
- Move the blue circle in the Program window to change the light direction
- Duplicate the footage and remove the effect from the bottom layer
- Add a Crop effect to the top layer before the Volumetric Rays effect
- Lower the Source Opacity to zero on the top layer
- Change the blending mode of the top layer to Add or Screen

Watch out for
- The Crop effect must be placed before the Volumetric Rays effect in the effect stack
Tips
- Duplicate the footage and remove the effect from the bottom layer if you want rays to come only from a specific area
- Use the Highlights Only parameter to get rid of or bring in more bright spots from the footage
