Midjourney: Kodak-themed supercar design and lifestyle shoot

Demo summary

Rory shows how to apply vintage Kodak packaging aesthetics to a custom car model and uses advanced system prompts to force 'asymmetry' and 'imperfections' for a more realistic, non-AI look.

Step-by-step

  1. Upload a mood board of body styles to generate a base car model
  2. Upload an image of vintage packaging to use as a design reference
  3. Prompt the model to apply the packaging aesthetics, branding, and colors to the car model
  4. Flip the generated image to create a reference for the opposite side of the car
  5. Use the 'keep this, change that' prompt structure to generate specific angles like front, rear, and 3/4 views
  6. Run multiple angle prompts simultaneously using the star separator or a text iterator node
  7. Generate a 3x3 contact sheet of the car from nine different angles to use as a master reference
  8. Apply a system prompt that specifies off-centered framing, camera tilt, and motion blur to create a raw aesthetic

Options

  • Use a text iterator node instead of an array/list to populate prompts within a single node
  • Choose between a composited contact sheet or individual angle runs

Watch out for

  • The model has no context for the front of a car if only a side reference is provided; you must manually flip or provide additional angles

Tips

  • Use a matte gray finish for the initial car design to make it easier to paste textures on top of later
  • Add emotional keywords to prompts to increase the sophistication of the output
  • Structure editing prompts simply as 'Keep [X], Change [Y]'
  • Force imperfections like chromatic aberration and varying camera heights to break standard AI tendencies and achieve a realistic look

Highlights

It doesn't have to be overly complex. I like to just structure my prompts as keep this, change that.
